This week the Formula 1 circus descends upon the historic Hungaroring circuit for the eagerly anticipated Hungarian Grand Prix! As the midsummer sun blazes down on the tarmac, the world's finest drivers will push their finely-tuned machines to the limit, captivating fans with heart-stopping maneuvers and edge-of-the-seat drama.


Amidst the fervent atmosphere, the Hungarian GP stands tall as a revered institution on the Formula 1 calendar. Rich in history and drenched in tradition, this renowned event boasts a legacy spanning decades, making it a favorite amongst drivers and fans alike. Its storied past and the iconic track create the perfect stage for both seasoned veterans and ambitious newcomers to showcase their skills and battle fiercely for championship points.

About The Track:

  • The first Grand Prix to be held here was during the 1986 season, just 9 months after the construction began on the circuit.

  • The circuit has 1 DRS zone between Turns 13 and 14. Along with this, there is a speed trap along the first straight.

  • The race will have 70 laps of the 4.381km track.

  • The lap record was set by Lewis Hamilton in 2016 at 1:16.627.

  • Nelson Piquet, the three-time world champion, secured his 1st ever Formula 1 victory at the inaugural Hungarian Grand Prix in 1986, driving for Williams-Honda.

  • Hungary's unique history in Formula 1 has produced an array of iconic races and dramatic moments. From Nigel Mansell's breathtaking overtake on Ayrton Senna in 1989 to Thierry Boutsen's heroic charge to victory in 1990, the Hungarian Grand Prix has always provided captivating storylines.

  • The legendary Michael Schumacher holds the record for the most wins at the Hungaroring, with a staggering total of four victories (1994, 1998, 2001, and 2004).

Lap 1 - Hamilton drops to P4 after both McLarens make their way past him. Zhou and Tsunoda make contact leaving Zhou losing 11 places. Ocon and Gasly make contact as a result of the Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri and both drop to P19 and P20.

Lap 2 - Gasly pits and has extreme rear damage. Gaslit retires.

Lap 3 - Ocon pits and has to retire.

Lap 8 - Perez finally manages the overtake on Alonso to take P7. Zhou is given a 5 second penalty.

Lap 9 - Albon pits for hards and rejoins P18.

Lap 10 - Stroll, Tsunoda, and Bottas all pit for hards. Stroll rejoins P15, Bottas P16, and Tsunoda P18.

Lap 11 - Zhou pits for hards and rejoins P18.

Lap 14 - Sargent pits for hards but the pit stop 4.5 seconds so he rejoins P18.

Lap 16 - Sainz pits for hards and rejoins P11.

Lap 18 - Norris pits for hards and rejoins P5. Leclerc pits and the stop is 9.4 seconds as they had to get the spare wheel gun, he rejoins P11 and battles Bottas to keep the spot.

Lap 19 - Piastri pits for hards and emerges from the pits equal with Norris and ends up conceding the place to Norris to join P5. Ricciardo also pits for hards which sends him back down to P18.

Lap 21 - Alonso pits for hards and rejoins P11.

Lap 23 - Alonso completes the overtake on Bottas to take P10. Verstappen pits for hards and keeps his position of P1.

Lap 25 - Perez pits for mediums and rejoins P7 between the two Ferraris. Hamilton manages the overtake on Russell, but it is reported to Hamilton that he is losing speed on the straight lines and Turn 11 and 14.

Lap 29 - Russell pits for for mediums and went from P6 to P13.

Lap 32 - Albon pits for hards rejoins P17.

Lap 35 - Russell makes the move on Bottas to take P9.

Lap 43 - Perez pits to attempt an undercut on Mercedes. He pits for mediums and rejoins P7. Piastri pits for mediums and keeps his lead on Perez and rejoins P6 behind Leclerc.

Lap 44 - Leclerc pits for hards and rejoins P8. Alonso pits for mediums and rejoins P9.

Lap 45 - Norris pits for mediums and rejoins P3. Sainz pits for hards and rejoins P8.

Lap 48 - 5 second penalty for speeding in the pit lane. Pissarro is given the black and white flag however the incident that caused this does appear to be Perez pushing him off the track.

Lap 50 - Hamilton pits for mediums and rejoins P5.

Lap 51 - Verstappen pits mediums and keeps P1.

Lap 60 - Norris complains of the back of the pack obstructing and not moving when the blue flags are waved.

Lap 66 - Russell finally makes the overtake on Sainz.

Lap 69 - Sargeant pits after spinning and has to retire with one lap left.

Lap 70 - Verstappen takes the win, with Norris taking his first consecutive podium, and Perez takes P3. Leclerc does finish ahead of Russell but has to take P7 because of his penalty, promoting Russell to P6.
