Unfortunately, he had to stop on track, resulting in a red flag and FP2 having to stop whilst his car was moved. He had also only just returned to track after being in the pits and changing his hard tyres to soft ones. Hopefully Haas can rectify this situation in time for FP3 and qualifying tomorrow.

Pre-race Penalties:

So far, there are nine drivers reportedly taking penalties this week:

  • Hamilton to take a grid penalty after a fourth power unit change. TBC if he will be relegated to the back of the grid.

  • Carlos Sainz will start back of the grid as he has "exceeded his allocation of gearbox components, plus ES, control electronics (CE) and MGU-K"

  • Tsunoda receives his 5th reprimand of the season for "loosened seatbelt" at Zandvoort last week and so faces a 10 place grid drop this week. Another three-place drop has been added, along with two penalty points, after failing to slow for yellow flags in FP2. He will start at the back of the grid along with Hamilton and Sainz.

  • Schumacher to take a grid penalty due to having a new gearbox fitted.

  • Bottas to take a 15 place grid penalty for fitting his sixth Ferrari Power Unit.

  • Verstappen to receive 5 place grid penalty for taking a new Internal Combustion Engine.
