Miami 2023! Everything You Need To Know...

Updated: May 26, 2023

The first of three US grand prixs this season is upon us. Slightly controversial among fans with regards to the guest list, but no doubt it will still be a great race.

It is also the Floridian rookie's, Logan Sargeant, first home race, so hopefully all goes well for him here.

About The Track

  • The Miami International Autodrome held its first GP last season, having been announced in April 2021.

  • The idea of hosting a Grand Prix in Miami has been around for several years, but it was only in 2018 that serious discussions began to take place. The Miami race was initially supposed to debut in 2019, but various delays and opposition from local residents and businesses pushed the debut back to 2022.

  • The circuit has 3 DRS zones.

  • The race will have 57 laps of the 5.412km circuit.

  • The lap record was set by Max Verstappen at 1:31.361.

  • The circuit winds its way through the streets of downtown Miami and around the Hard Rock Stadium, the home of the Miami Dolphins NFL team. The circuit has been designed to be fast and challenging, with long straights and tight corners.

  • The Miami Grand Prix is part of a wider strategy by Formula One to expand its reach in the United States, which is seen as a key growth market for the sport. The United States has a long history with motor racing, with iconic events such as the Indianapolis 500 and the Daytona 500 attracting large crowds.

Any Other News

  • 04/05/23: It has been revealed by ESPN F1 that, apparently, Brad Pitt is set to race against the 20 drivers in a 'real F1 car' at Silverstone this year.

  • 05/05/23: It has now been clarified that Brad Pitt will instead be driving an F2 car in a 'private session', not, as ESPN F1 first reported, a 'real F1 car'.

  • 07/05/23: Alonso was (somehow???) able to catch Lance's overtake into Turn 1 and appeared on the radio with "Which position is Lance? Great move into turn 1." mid race! Impressive driving and great positioning of the track screens for Alonso to catch that.

A Track For THE Track: Miami 2023 Playlist:

A new edition to the blog post this week, as someone who LOVES music, I felt that this would be a fun twist to add.

No sporting event is complete without a killer soundtrack, and the Miami Grand Prix is no exception. The vibrant city of Miami is known for its rich musical culture, with influences from Latin, Caribbean, and American pop music. To capture the energy and excitement of the city and the race, I've put together a playlist that showcases some of the best songs that define Miami and the Miami Grand Prix.
