Nestled in the vibrant city of Montreal, this legendary event captivates motorsport enthusiasts from around the globe, offering a mesmerizing blend of speed, skill, and unforgettable moments.

Every year, the picturesque Circuit Gilles Villeneuve comes alive with the thunderous roars of the world's finest race cars, weaving through its challenging twists and turns. From the awe-inspiring acceleration on the long straights to the nail-biting overtakes at hairpin bends, the Canadian Grand Prix delivers an unrivaled spectacle that leaves spectators on the edge of their seats.

This is also the home race for Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll who finished P10 last year, but with the vast improvements of the Aston car this year, I am sure he will be able to improve upon this!

About The Track:

  • The first grand prix to be held here was in 1978 and was originally called the Circuit Ile Notre-Dame.

  • The circuit has 2 DRS zones. The first is between Turn 5 and 6, and the second starts just after Turn 9. Accompanying this, there is a speed trap along the back straight as the drivers approach Turn 13.

  • The race will have 70 laps of the 4.361km track.

  • The lap record was set by Valtteri Bottas in 2019 at 1:13.078.

  • The circuit is named after Canadian racing driver Gilles Villeneuve, who achieved immense success in Formula 1. His aggressive and daring driving style, coupled with his unwavering determination, left an indelible mark on the sport.

  • Located on Île Notre-Dame, an artificial island in the St. Lawrence River, the circuit offers a unique and picturesque setting. It combines the urban charm of Montreal with the tranquility of the surrounding nature, creating an extraordinary backdrop for the race.

  • The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve boasts one of the highest average speeds on the Formula 1 calendar. With long straights like the legendary "Senna Straight," where drivers can reach speeds of over 200 mph (320 km/h), it provides an exhilarating experience for both competitors and spectators.
